Cate: Travels through Europe

The United Kingdom

((I’m skipping a couple weeks of travel - but I will insert them back in afterwards.  Just wanted to keep this updated for current endeavors)).

Hooray! An english sepaking country.  There’s a different sort of comfort that accompanies the excitement of traveling because of that.

I get on the Stansted express train to reach Liverpool Street Station to meet Kat (who I found out was studying in London 2 weeks ago and we just so happened got a chance to meet in Barcelona because we were both there).  FIrst thing I see is countryside, a brick house and horses.  What a delight :D.  What a different feel you get here compared to Italy and Spain.   It’s snowy weather - probably low 40s with a heavy misty fog covering everything.  Beautiful :].  Some how it’s beautiful here.  I would have never said that in the states if the weather had been like that.

Roof tops remind me of Marry Poppins.  Houses remind me of 101 Dalmations — that’s where my love of Disney really comes out.

So much more to come later, as the rest will be accompanied with photos :].

Keep them Coming

Sometimes there’s no work, sometimes I do no work, other days I whip things out in a day — whether it’s because they need it the next day, or because I’ve always been a fast worker. Either way, here’s some more projects I’ve done for the place I’m interning at.

PROJECT

A4 sized magazine advertisement for Intrapresa.

GOAL

First it was just playing with the typography and trying to embody the company’s look. 2nd it was trying to search for that “emotional” design that Essedicom strives to put in their pieces.

PROJECT

The mock ups that I did for the Golden View Open Bar that I mentioned a couple posts back.

Chocolate Festival - Perugia

This post is long overdue and was trip was taken weeks ago in late October during Perugia’s Chocolate Festival. What goes on during a festival dedicated to chocolate?? The idea just makes you go yum :]. Read on..

“For nine days the Perugia transforms itself for the occasion in a huge open-air pastry-shop for the delight of all the greedy persons and the slaves of cacao. At Eurochocolate Perugia festival will be organized dozens of big events concentrated on the “food of the gods” with exhibitions, laboratories, internships, cooking classes, tasting, expositions, banquets, celebrations and the final prices: Eurochocolate Awards. Each year new themes and entertainment are developed like for example “the prisoners of the chocolate” of the 2001 edition, and the activities of the section “Ciok si Gira!” dedicated to the cinema of the 2002 edition. (Info from here)”

Pretty much imagine a whole city with just rooows and rows of chocolate vendors. It was hard to decide where I should stop to by chocolate.

This year’s theme was “PLAY.” At this particular booth there were chocolate batteries, maps and a assortment of chocolate embracing the theme play. I think the most unique booth I saw that was super cool was this booth that had “chocolate” for all pets! Dogs, hamsters, cats, bunnies, you name it xD. I forgot to take a pictures of it though. Though I do have a flyer somewhere if you want more info about it :]. More info: www.eurochocolate.com

A lot of students come and study in Perugia - my thoughts of the city? I loved it.  It’s not too touristy like Florence — except during the chocolate festival.  More locals, yet still a good amount of students.  You’re forced to immerse and learn the language faster in a smaller town like it.  Thumbs up on my end :]

The following photos are my favorites taken throughout my weekend in and around Perugia.
